FAQ about Panasonic AG-HVX200
The best camera for filmaking and documentaries?
Hi, I'm planing to buy a camera for independent productions (documentaries & movies), that I'll be able to use for a while and with a "cinema" look. I rather a low budget camera. So far I'm between PANASONIC AGHVX200 and CANON XL2, but if anyone could recommend me some other or even help with those two, I would appreciate.
Answer
There are many excellent cameras out there right now.
You may want to rent a few different systems for some of your productions before you invest a lot of money in a camera. Spending from $5,000 and more for a camera hoping it will have the features you want and need for your projects could be diverting money you can use elsewhere.
Here is a good link for both research and a rental resource.

And here is a camera you may want to look closer at as you start to get some investors and cash flow.

Answer
The XL2 is a great camcorder,
I've had no experience with the AGHVX200, so i can't comment on that, personally, But I just looked at he specs and it looks like a fine camera also.
Presently I'm shooting video, with a Canon XH A1, and a 5D II. The XH A1 does have a 24p mode, that mimics a film cameras fps. But does not have the versatility of using all of the lenses that the XL2 does.
Right now the XL2 is a great bargain, as it's been replaced in the Canon line up by the XL H series.
The 5D II, is a great DSLR for stills, and has some amazing capabilities for video too! But some limitations that make it a less than perfect "camcorder".
Between your two choices, the Canon XL2 has more lens possibilties, but the Panasonic, seems "fresher", with it's 1080 recording capabilties.
And Pey, if you look back here, your copy, pasting of all that crap just to make your answer longer is annoying!
Although you give decent answers, stop there! I'm sick of seeing that battery, and memorycard crap, in every one of your posts!
I'd have not said this in open forum, if you allowed PM's or E-mails, sorry!
Edit: Pey, this time you didn't even answer, it's all garbage! Makes my think you wrote a "script" to answer questions here!
